InnisfreeCancerHelp.org
A diagnosis of cancer is life altering. The cancer experience is
complex, being both universal and uniquely individual; it continues
beyond treatment. InnisfreeCancerHelp.org is a New Hampshire based
web site dedicated to easing the distress of this
experience. The name "Innisfree" comes from the William
Butler Yeats
poem "The Lake Isle of Innisfree"
that
describes a place of peace and serenity.
InnisfreeCancerHelp.org is brought to you as a community service
of New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology,
PA, a leader in providing medical oncology and blood disease services in New Hampshire. Nine physicians treat patients in and surrounding the communities of Manchester, Derry, Exeter, Laconia and Concord. Since 1976, NHOH has approached care not just medically, but from a human perspective, striving to provide patients with information, advice, direction and options that suit their needs and desires.
Founder's Statement
Why Innisfree? My observations as an oncologist for
over 15 years are supported by the latest clinical research: the
level of distress experienced by many people with cancer from the
initial diagnosis and beyond is unacceptably high. I think we can
ultimately ease this distress by starting with a community-based
effort to develop a new dialogue about the cancer experience coupled
with first-rate clinical research. This will lead to fresh ideas
about affordable and accessible programming that will truly do
justice to the human side of this illness while improving the
quality of life of people with cancer as well as their families,
friends and caregivers.

Friedlander, Jr.
